This was it, the last season on record. What apathy couldn't wipe out, COVID would the following year.
The team won at least a couple of games, which this historian believes is a couple more than they did the prior year.
Rookie Lauren Humpert was a hero, assuming duties as team manager (leaving the coaching to Mikell Sapp) and, more importantly, volunteering to do what no one else would/could -- pitch. Even after a sharp come-backer provided a reality check about the risk of injury weeks before her wedding, Lauren didn't back down. She simply donned a mask and did what needed to be done.
The final out was recorded on August 3rd in a round-robin league tournament in which we came tantalizingly close to being part of a three-way tie for first place. But we ran out of gas on a long day that capped a fun season and a truly joyous 39 years.
